The Pink Leopard Quilt

The past few years many of our friends have been having babies. This is great for us! Our friends now understand why it is so important that we are home in time for the 7pm bedtime. But for me personally, it means I have an excuse to make lots of quilts!

This is the first time I ever designed my own quilt. There's nothing particularly unique about the blocks, but I like the effect of the colors I chose to use. The beginning inspiration for this quilt was the pink leopard print. The mom-to-be loves leopard print and the baby is a girl so it was meant to be!
This picture is of the finished top, prior to quilting. My mom is a long-armer, so she quilted this one for me.

This is just the top of the quilt, prior to quilting.

Additionally, with this quilt I learned how to miter the corners. It was a new skill for me, so it's always nice to add new techniques!

The baby that received this quilt just turned 4 months old. I think she's going to enjoy it!

Beginning

I'm starting a blog. I don't expect that I'll post often. I'm hoping that by having my own blog, I can post some of my projects and share them! I'm starting out small, with a picture of a quilt that I  completed earlier this year.

Natalie's Quilt
This quilt was made with the help of a Quilting Bee that I'm involved in. In the first year, there were 12 members, and each member was the Queen Bee for a month. For my month, I requested string blocks, and sent the green polka dot fabric as well as scraps to each member. This quilt was made for my second child. When I chose the colors/pattern for this quilt, I did not yet know whether I was having a boy or girl. It turned out she was a girl, so I added a yellow/orange backing and a purple binding to complete the quilt after she was born.
Here's the orange/yellow backing on the quilt.

So I still need to learn how to take good pictures to share, but I'm just starting out here! Hopefully I'll remember to post again sometime soon.
These are my girls. Sophie is 3, and Natalie is 1 - this quilt is her baby quilt!
